Scheduling a Polygraph

Instructions for your polygraph test.

Employers

Prior to your applicant's scheduled pre-employment polygraph exam, please have her/him complete the appropriate pre-employment Polygraph Questionnaire found on the Applicants page.

Here are sample instructions for your applicants. This same list is available for your examinees on the Applicants page of our website.

The Interview and Polygraph

Most applicants become apprehensive when asked to participate in a personal interview and polygraph examination. Feelings of apprehension, uncertainty, and anxiety are common. As your procedure begins, you’ll become more comfortable and you’ll find that your examiner will make every effort to make this experience pleasant for you.

Your success in the interview and examination requires that you provide complete and accurate responses, and that you be completely truthful. None of us have a perfect history and all of us at one time or another, have participated in activities that were not totally appropriate.

Your prospective employer and your examiner both understand that being human includes making mistakes. They also know that people can both learn from their mistakes and become better individuals (not to mention better job candidates) in the process.

Mandatory Instructions

  • Wear a short sleeve shirt (bring an outer garment for temperature comfort).
  • Arrive 15 minutes early and make sure you have something to eat before your appointment. You MUST have at least six hours of sleep or you may not qualify for the exam.
  • Bring your completed polygraph questionnaire/ personal history forms with you.
  • Bring your valid photo ID.
  • Allow yourself three hours from the time you arrive.
  • No cellular phones or weapons of any kind are allowed during the appointment. All cell phones must be completely turned off during the examination.
  • Please do not bring friends, relatives or children to your appointment.
  • Please call in advance if you are pregnant, injured or ill (flu, colds, etc.)
  • The examinee can park anywhere in the Biltmore Office Plaza parking lot and enter the plaza through any entrance.
  • Go to suite 114 and check in with the receptionist.

Having the applicants fill out the pre-employment Statement of Personal History prior to her/his polygraph exam will enable us to achieve better and more accurate results, as the applicant will have more time to contemplate her/his answers.
